Go....team...(sigh)
OK - condolences are in order for MY end of the sofa; congratulations are due to the other end of the sofa. As mentoned, I'm not much of a sports fan of any kind. But we Wisconsinites are Packer Backers. (I do have a thing for that cute, grizzled, soft-spoken hero, Brett Favre - but you know, not in a stalk-y kind o' way, and I don't even have pictures of him or anything; however, I do have a cute magazine ad for Sensodyne with him holding a little ice cream cone.) Also, due to antiquated loyalty to the town of his birth (the Bronx), Mr Dearling is a "life-long New York Giants fan". (He's actually not any bigger of a sports fan than I am, and I bet he's never thought of Brett Favre "cute".)
Anyway, as I'm sure will be splashed all over the front page of newspapers as far away as Prague and Mumbai, the Packers did not win. (They didn't lose, the Packers don't do that; just didn't win.) Which means that Mr Dearling's New York Giants didn't not win. I watched the whole game, minus muckin' great sections in the middle when the wild action caused me to fall asleep ... err... nod off pass out from the excitement. And even I, non-sports-fan that I am, can appreciate that it was a "good game" and it was won in the last few overtime seconds. The score was 20-20 for a long time. That's OK, next year'll be a new season. (Oh, and Brett? If you're reading this? You will of course play at least one more season, right? So you can lead the Packers to the Super Bowl next year? Yeah, I thought so. Kthxbye.)

I watch football like that too! Being from Maine I expected the Patriots to win, but the Packers Giants game was more fun. And my neighbor has had a packer's backers towel draped over her door all week!
See over here in Minnesota, where it's a sin to cheer for the Packers, I cheer fo them all year long. Today, I'm more than sad, I'm ---- sadder. But that little Manning boy is sooooooooo cute too! Welcome to the World of KMKat's Top 10! It's Crazy!
I'm so slow in catching up on blogs after The Cough. Your touque turned out lovely! I can just picture it on the reenactor! Did you get to the Ear on Friday night. I was still too tired to go. Planning on Last Sat. Knitting though! you?
I think I too slept through parts of the game. But, I have to hand it to the Packers. They were strutting around in that -20 degree weather with their short sleeves while the wimpy Giants had to wear long sleeves. We know who the real studs are, don't we?
Ever notice when a food product has a contest, like soda pop bottle caps, they say, "Sorry, you are not a winner." They don't say, "You LOSE!" Huge semantic difference there.
I only looked at the game to check out the cold weather. I was really afraid for the Packers' coach - his face did not look good. But I'm also a Packers fan because my dad was from Appleton, WI and that was his team. Like they say, there's always next year!
Here in New England it's gonna be an exciting superbowl. Of course since I have zero interest in football it'll be just another Sunday for me. lol.
I'm not a sports fan at all (in fact, I generally boycott professional sports out of my extreme annoyance over the pay discrepancy between teachers and professional athletes), but I was sort of hoping the Chargers (my hometown team) would kick the ever-lovin' crap out of the Patriots and force all those sports casters to choke on their complete dismissal of the Chargers. Alas, it was not to be.
Don't know much about your team but understanding the losing part. SD Charger game didn't go like we dreamed but nearly as bad as it could have. Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog.
Hi there! I've just discovered your blog. I've been reading some of your posts - you have a lovely sense of humour. I also have a black cat. His name is Meneer(Afrikaans for Mister). He has green eyes and a tiny white spot on his chest. Alida South Africa
