Do you realize, my fran', that "62 wpm" is HIGHLY respectable? In fact, I believe that anything over 50wpm is considered "saleable skill". I find that if you type more slowly you can get 100% accuracy on that test. (My father typed very fast, with only the first two fingers of each hand (!) and once his secretary asked him to have a race with the teletype machine. Dad typed about 87 wpm, without errors....on a MANUAL typewriter, can you imagine????) He was a newspaperman. Believe you me, you did not "suck at this thing!"
I took that typing test a bunch of times (why, yes, I am a nerdy geek -- or a geeky nerd; thanks for asking) and my score, in the times that no one interrupted me, was always in the 60-70 range with varying numbers of mistakes, always in the 0-6 range. Except for the one weird time when the planets aligned and the gods smiled and I didn't need to go to the bathroom; that time I got 75 wpm with zero mistakes. Make of that what you will.

I totally suck at this thing. The most I've ever scored is 62 words per minute. I'm not slow--I just make a lot of mistakes.
